This evening we will be discussing an important aspect of identity, an extremely important topic both generally from a worldview perspective and specifically from a current cultural perspective. The notion of identity is one of those tricky things that becomes truly challenging to sort out once a couple of well placed questions get us past the superficial level. Tonight we will be investigating the difference between what I’ll call affirming aspects of identity (things we are / are in favor of) and negating aspects of identity (things we are not / are against). If we don’t properly distinguish the differences, then we can easily end up in situations where we contradict ourselves and tend to make bad decisions. How should we make this distinction and what does it mean for us in practical terms?
We welcome your participation in an open, honest conversation where everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ask questions we don’t typically investigate. Thanks for your time and we look forward to speaking with you!
