Hagmann & Hagmann 10.20.2016: Liberian Ebola, US Navy SEALs and Texas Football…

Tonight, on The Hagmann and Hagmann Report, Doug and Joe welcome David Thomas on board to discuss three of his eleven titles: Called for Life, SEAL of God and Remember Why You Play.  David is a former sports writer whose work has been featured in Sports Illustrated, The Dallas Morning News and The Fort Worth Star-Telegram. David also shares credit for penning the 2014 Sony Pictures Classic release, Foxcatcher, starring Steve Carrel, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo in an eerie presentation of how John Du Pont lured Olympic Gold Medalist, Mark Schultz into his twisted world of familial discord and a relationship that ultimately landed Du Pont in jail for murder. Foxcatcher was nominated for five Oscars and three Golden Globes and has a Rotten Tomatoes score of a whopping 89%.

Called for Life is the biography of Time Magazine Person of the Year, Dr. Kent Brantley and his wife Amber who when called by God to Liberia to serve those stricken with Ebola, received the following diagnoses (excerpted from the Prologue, Called for Life):

“Kent, bud. We got your test result. And I’m really sorry to tell you that it is positive for Ebola.”

In a story, nearly as compelling as Luke 17:11-19, David Thomas will bring listeners deep into the African nation of Liberia, deep within the Job-like test of the Brantley’s faith and marriage as they fearlessly confronted Kent’s diagnoses and his divine appointment to help those in need.

SEAL of God is a title that should be on every Hagmann listeners’ shelf.  It is the biography of US Navy SEAL, Chad Williams.  Chad joined the SEALs with murder in his heart, determined to avenge the death of his mentor, a US Navy SEAL who was killed in action in the Battle of Fallujah and whose dismembered corpse was mutilated, hung from a bridge and flaunted on global news networks.  David Thomas, Doug and Joe will take listeners through “hell week” as Chad Williams suffers and strives through the frigid Pacific Ocean and toward the highly prized trident pin of the US Navy SEALS.  We will also learn how this ambitious Special Forces Operator pursued blood lust and found instead the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ.

In hour three tonight, get ready for Friday night football, Texas style. Remember Why You Play is one of the greatest sports stories of all time.  David Thomas and the Hagmanns invite listeners to sit on the fifty-yard line as Grapevine Faith High hosts Gainesville State School, a juvenile detention facility for convicted felons.  Can the love and example of Christ be applied to football, felons and Friday night lights in The Lone Star State?  This story is unique in the simple and powerful anointing that started with Christ’s instruction to love our neighbors as ourselves and continued when Grapevine Faith, Head Coach Hogan sent out an email to players and their families informing them that it was not only time for Friday night football, but also time to live the Gospel.

Folks you do not want to miss a single minute of tonight’s Hagmann and Hagmann Report.  Doug and Joe will cover the news and post-debate analyses followed by two hours of adventure with David Thomas and special guest, Grapevine Faith star running back, Jordan Dunnington.  Join us at 7pm EDT for this outstanding show.
