The Amateur Society: Revising Reality From Fundamental Cosmology To The Presidential Election

If it seems like the unorthodox and the unbelievable are becoming daily occurrences in the political realm, then surely we can at least know that our fundamental understanding of physics and the universe is solid and constant… Right? It turns out that new research is calling into question the standard model conclusion that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate, a strange result that astronomers and physicists have attributed to ‘dark energy’ – a mysterious quantity that we can’t describe or explain except by saying that the expansion of the universe is accelerating and something must be causing it so we have to give whatever it is a name. Current science across many disciplines is not as dogmatic as it would appear. Contrary to popular belief, the science itself is never settled.

Tonight we’re going to open with this scientific discussion before continuing into what this implies from philosophical and worldview perspectives. From there we will transition into the ever-shifting reality of the Presidential election and discuss the mechanism through which perception determines reality. Who is more enthusiastic? Who is likely to win? What will the ultimate outcome be? Even though we don’t know for sure it isn’t going to stop us from analyzing the possibilities.

Bring your questions to our open forum and join us for another lively meeting of The Amateur Society. We look forward to having you with us. Stay safe and God bless!
