When Fathers Come Home – Pastor Carter Conlon – Times Square Church – 06.16.2019

Goliath

There was a moment when even David gave in to fear and compromise. He fled from Saul into the land of the enemies of God. He was no longer pursued by Saul, but he was outside of where God had called him to be. We must understand the importance of standing up and not shrinking away in this moment. It is time for men to be men in this generation. David’s next victory came when he returned to seeking the face of the Lord rather than being driven by fear. In our days we must press in to God to receive the boldness to battle for this generation. God forbid they are lost on our watch. David recovered all, and so will we if we cry out in desperate prayer for a groundswell of faith. Jesus raise up men and leaders! Turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and turn the hearts of the children to their fathers.

And David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand.” Then David arose and went over with the six hundred men who were with him to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath. So David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each man with his household, and David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s widow. And it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath; so he sought him no more.

1 Samuel 27:1-4
