Guest Post: We Can’t Just Look The Other Way Anymore – Pastor Mike Spaulding

see-no-evil

By Dr. Mike Spaulding:

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Edmund Burke

The quote above has been mentioned many times in many different contexts. It is part of a longer letter that Burke wrote to his friend Thomas Mercer in 1770. The entire thought that Burke sought to express is a powerful reminder of the evil that will befall any people who fail to swiftly and with much malice, destroy the evil actions of those who would by those actions enslave a free people in tyranny. Burke said:

Whilst men are linked together, they easily and speedily communicate the alarm of any evil design. They are enabled to fathom it with common counsel, and to oppose it with united strength. Whereas, when they lie dispersed, without concert, order, or discipline, communication is uncertain, counsel difficult, and resistance impracticable. Where men are not acquainted with each other’s principles, nor experienced in each other’s talents, nor at all practiced in their mutual habitudes and dispositions by joint efforts in business; no personal confidence, no friendship, no common interest, subsisting among them; it is evidently impossible that they can act a public part with uniformity, perseverance, or efficacy. In a connection, the most inconsiderable man, by adding to the weight of the whole, has his value, and his use; out of it, the greatest talents are wholly unserviceable to the public. No man, who is not inflamed by vain-glory into enthusiasm, can flatter himself that his single, unsupported, desultory, unsystematic endeavors, are of power to defeat the subtle designs and united cabals of ambitious citizens. When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.[1]

Podcast: On the Objective – The Impossible Revival Is Coming – Steven Menking – 06.07.2019

2019.06.07

Join us for another Biblical discussion of important spiritual principles in partnership with Reliance! Don’t get trapped in the prison of pessimism and fatalism. Brothers and sisters our God did not create the billions of people alive in this generation to be swept away into a Devil’s hell without a chance to respond to the true gospel. God has called many of His people out of institutional churches, and it has been a painful process for many. Please press in to God to be raised up out of the quagmire of negativity. God wants to make you a leader and a partaker of the harvest in this generation. Ask Him if revival is even possible. I believe that it’s not just possible: it’s necessary. The scriptures from this message are found in Zechariah 10.

Mothers Rising – Pastor Teresa Conlon – Times Square Church – 05.12.2019

Dorcas

Both biological and spiritual mothers deserve to be celebrated for their many vast contributions to the body of Christ and to the world in general. The relational role of a Godly woman is capable of building up, restoring, and cultivating to a marvelous extent. What we find in Proverbs 31 and elsewhere in scripture is a picture of grace, compassion, service, and spiritual power. We would do well to heed the wisdom of mothers and look to their example. The Bible is replete with these examples to show us the authority and faith that God provides to overcome the trials and challenges that life presents. Brothers and sisters let the mothers arise and let us cherish the mothers for the sake of this generation.

At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. Then he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed on the Lord.

Acts 9:36-42
