The bankrupt philosophy of postmodernism notwithstanding, pain is real. So is evil. Everything isn’t just subjective experience subject to an infinite variety of interpretation. We spend so much of our lives fleeing from these things that we don’t necessarily understand what they are. A properly constructed worldview cannot fail to address these topics. Let’s examine the sobering nature of our reality by asking clarifying and provocative questions. If we don’t challenge ourselves at this time, then we will end up being overwhelmed when forced to confront these realities in an unavoidable way.

Join us for another engaging and informative conversation tonight at 8:00pm.

God bless,

I attended the True Legends conference this past weekend, and it struck me that we don’t ask the right questions about history. This vast detriment creates a profound level of uncertainty and ignorance that leads to powerlessness. What proportion of our knowledge about history is accurate? How much are we missing? How could we even estimate the size of the gaps in our understanding of both natural and human history?

The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you.” —Werner Heisenberg, 1932 Nobel Prize in Physics for the creation of quantum mechanics (which is essential to modern science).

Heisenberg eventually came to the same conclusion as countless other notable scientists throughout history: Albert Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton, Sir. Joseph J. Thomson (discovered electron), Robert Boyle, and many more.

With each passing day, the marvel of scientific discovery makes it more and more apparent to the most enlightened scholars inhabiting this heavenly body that only God could have created the unimaginable world we live in today.

In the modern age, another group of evangelizers appear bent on dismantling God’s Creation and surrogating it with their own. It’s not scientific discovery that challenges the future of our species; it’s how profiteers will manipulate it to leaven their agendas at any cost. Dare we say this is an attempt to recreate the world in their own image? Does this sound familiar?

“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.” –Matthew 24:24

After spending a month looking into blockchain technology, tonight we will turn back to the dynamics of the current events landscape. In many ways it seems like we are stuck in the same place with respect to the dominant narratives, trends, and themes. In other ways we’re seeing some material developments on key issues. How do we know which version of current events is accurate? Is President Trump on a fast track to impeachment or an overhaul that leads to prosperity? Stepping back, how should we structure our analysis through the lens of uncertainty. This poorly understood area of decision making and critical thinking rarely gets attention because of its seemingly arcane underpinnings in probabilistic mathematics. However, it is both useful and necessary to understand core principles about uncertainty so that we can proceed through the morass of information in a more informed manner.

Join us On the Objective as your host Steven Menking (The Amateur Society) and Chris Baucom (Remnant Radio Network) discuss the idea of universal basic income. Podcast: The Amateur Society – Blockchain Basics – 06.27.2017

Blockchain

Tonight we will be delving into the blockchain, a profound technology that has been lauded by some in the field as the most significant development in many years, decades, or even centuries! The buzz around blockchain technology has poked its head out into a portion of the sphere of media and cultural awareness, but is still not grasped by the broader culture. To many it feels like 1994 again. Just like the internet at the time, blockchain technology has been around for several years but hasn’t yet made the leap to full-scale adoption. Tonight we will discuss the basics of the blockchain. What is it? How does it function? Why is it important?
