Podcast: The Amateur Society – Our Conversations In 2018 – 12.10.2018

12.11.2018

Welcome back to The Amateur Society for a look back on the discussions we have had over the course of the year. It’s been a dynamic and even chaotic year in the world, and we have touched upon major themes across many areas of life including politics, economics, technology, and science. Most of all we have continued to emphasize the importance of worldview, decision making, and being more thoughtful in general. In the summer and full we had extended series on states of being and negotiation respectively. We look forward to another year of motivating, valuable conversations in 2019. Thanks again for joining us on The Amateur Society!

Podcast: The Amateur Society – Mastering Verbal Communication – 03.12.2018

DeathofSocrates

It is uncontroversial to suggest that verbal communication is an important skill for everyone to have regardless of our stations in life, so why are we so bad at it? We all know people who – ourselves, family, friends, coworkers, public figures, etc. – who are abysmal verbal communicators. Unfortunately, that makes them undesirable to speak with. Where do we start if we want to improve our verbal communication skills? How does worldview fit into the equation? What happens when we dedicate ourselves to improvement in this area? The group addresses these questions and more on the latest installment of The Amateur Society! To join in these discussions please send a contact request to amateursociety on Skype and hop on our calls at 8:00pm E every Monday.

Podcast: The Amateur Society – Communication And Antifragile Relationships – 08.07.2017

Socrates

Communication is absolutely vital, yet how much of our time is dedicated to understanding even the most basic interactions that we have with others and with ourselves? What we have, right here, on a grand scale, is an epic failure to communicate. How tedious and unimportant can our default conversations get? Life is too short to simply remain in first gear of nagging trivialities. Let’s have some real talk about the importance of communication and its role in building antifragile relationships that grow stronger when put under the pressures that life inevitably generates.
