Podcast: The Amateur Society – The Basics Of Digital Information – 04.09.2018

News

Welcome back to The Amateur Society for another discussion about information in light of the ongoing social media fiascos. In true amateur fashion, this open call breaks down the basics of digital information. The discussion focuses on a basic primer intended for those with no computer science background, and the concepts of information storage, text, images, and video are relayed in general, visual terms. It’s important for everyone to have at least a cursory understanding of how these things work as we deal with them every day. We hope this beginner-level discussion of digital information leads you into further research!

Podcast: The Amateur Society – Social Media Scrutiny – 04.02.2018

SocialMedia

The Amateur Society deleted our Facebook page after almost four years in the last week, and your host deleted his personal page that had been maintained since 2006. The social media landscape is changing. Because these platforms are built on technology, they are more vulnerable to disruption than prior iterations of conglomerates. Will coming changes dethrone the current crop of technology barons? Will the overall changes to the landscape be positive or negative? As legacy platforms run their course, is it even possible to imagine a world without them?

Thoughts from Just Before the Fall

FallLeaves

With August coming to a close and the fall season shortly at hand, I have a few observations to make:

1. It is becoming clear to more and more people that the primary narratives in essentially every area of our lives are nothing but lies and propaganda.

Cognitive dissonance levels are so far off the charts right now that a new descriptive term may be necessary that goes beyond total denial. The severity of the narrative contortions going on currently points directly to a troubling yet all too real prospect: spiritual blindness.
