Podcast: On the Objective – Our Zeal Has Been Misplaced – Steven Menking – 11.23.2019

2019.11.23

Join us for another Biblical discussion of important spiritual principles in partnership with Reliance! With the perspective of a new father, Steven focuses on what needs to take place in order for us to properly disciple the next generation. Like Joshua in Numbers 11, our zeal has been misplaced. Many have fallen into the trap of having an overly narrow focus, prioritizing denominational, eschatological, political, or tactical circumstances over the broader picture of the Kingdom of God. If we are not careful, then the next generation of disciples will have a myopic zeal as well. The harvest is what truly counts in this moment. We hope you enjoy this discussion! The scriptures from this message are found in Numbers 11, Mark 9, and 1 Corinthians 11.

Stay Strong – Pastor David Ham – Times Square Church – 06.23.2019

JoshuaCaleb

Caleb brought a good report when he originally spied out the land of Canaan. When Joshua was ready to divide the land several decades later he was approach by Caleb who reminded Joshua of the inheritance that God had given Caleb for his faithfulness. Caleb had to fight one more battle to claim what was his, but even at an advanced age he stayed strong. Lord help us in this generation to receive and to retain the strength that only you can provide us. We must all make a decision to persevere, to endure, and to overcome in this generation. The lost are looking for the strength of God to be demonstrated in our lives, and we have a responsibility to those around us to remain strong – not in our own strength but through the Holy Spirit – to demonstrate the love and the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him: “You know the word which the Lord said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea. was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart. Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God. So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.”

And Joshua blessed him, and gave Heron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance. Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel. And the name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim).

Then the land had rest from war.

The Victory Is Yours – Pastor Patrick Pierre – Times Square Church – 10.22.2017

The battle is the Lord’s, and we are called to fight the good fight of faith. In this moment, in this generation, the people of God must stand up and proclaim the name of Jesus. There is power in His name! There is no time now for complacency. Answer the call to victory. Give all the glory to God!

Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven, a people great and tall, the descendants of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you heard it said, ‘Who can stand before the descendants of Anak?’ Therefore understand today that the Lord your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the Lord has said to you.
