Welcome back to The Amateur Society for a shorter, lighter conversation! On this episode we discussed vacation, which means different things to different people. For example, I am perfectly content to take a vacation where I don’t travel. Spending a couple of days at home to take care of anything I’d like and to relax sounds like a fantastic break to me. For others, travel is a necessary part of any vacation. Whatever your preference, we hope that you enjoy this conversation about vacation and what we can do to get more out of the time that we have. Thanks again for joining us on The Amateur Society!
Welcome back to The Amateur Society for a conversation about rest, recuperation, and recharging! With your host back from a vacation and regular participant Sharon on the mend from a surgical operation, it is timely to consider what it means to recharge. Can we be quantitatively and objectively specific? How do the definitions of these terms come into play? Steven links analogies from mechanics, economics, and technology in this healthy and helpful discussion. Be encouraged to check with yourself more frequently to see if you are being worn down. Thanks again for joining us on The Amateur Society!
Are you resting in Jesus Christ? Are you resting in God’s faithfulness? Are you resting in His promises? Are you resting in the leading of the Holy Spirit? We must be continually refreshed by the power and the presence of God. Even in times of tremendous activity we can rest in the Lord through it all. Do you have the peace that passes all understanding? Do you know where to go for supernatural rest? No matter where you are or who you are you can approach Jesus to find rest. Do you know who He is today? Right now – yes literally right now – you can call out to Jesus to save you. If you have already committed your life to Jesus, then you can call out right now for a refreshing. Put aside everything for a period and rest in God even in the midst of trials.
At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I amgentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Join us On the Objective as your host Steven Menking (The Amateur Society) sits down with Pastor Mike Spaulding (Soaring Eagle Radio) to discuss God’s rest. In this moment we are experiencing a teeth-grinding level of tension that robs us of our rest, peace, and joy. People are frustrated, impatient, and clamorous. No wonder. One look at the headlines is enough to put many into a frenzy. Brothers and sisters, if we have lost our ability to rest in Jesus then we need to press in to God. Immediately. We hope you are encouraged and blessed by this conversation!
