Podcast: On the Objective – The Freedom Of Total Dependence On God – Steven Menking – 07.03.2020

07.03.2020

Join us for another Biblical discussion of important spiritual principles in partnership with Reliance! As we celebrate our nation’s independence amidst a trying hour, it is well worth revisiting the notion of independence itself. We must work and fight to establish freedom from tyranny, but in order to do so we must first be wholly dependent on God. True independence in this world is not possible without operating in obedience to the will of the Lord. As we strive and contend for freedom and justice let us always remember the one who sets us free, the righteous judge of the universe, the King of Kings, Jesus Christ! The scriptures in this broadcast are from Psalms 25.

Steven will be presenting at the Go Therefore 2020 Conference: https://rebelscry.tv/videos/daf9ac5f-15c3-4e35-8d02-0331785a1f13

Podcast: On the Objective – We Must Abandon Doubtful Disputations – Steven Menking – 08.03.2019

2019.08.03

Join us for another Biblical discussion of important spiritual principles in partnership with Reliance! This is the hour for all of us to put aside and seek forgiveness for our tendency to gossip, to bicker, to quarrel, and to castigate our brothers and sisters based on minor items that are not foundational. We must seek the Lord and refrain from our ongoing posture of unforgiveness. The Word of God is plain about what truly matters and what is less important, but in our generation we have relied on traditions of men rather than on the tenets of the Bible. Prayerfully, I hope that this message will encourage us to remain faithful to the whole counsel of God and to avoid the tenacious trap of looking down on other believers. This generation has lost the understanding of proper judgment, and only the Holy Spirit can restore it! The scriptures from this message are found in Proverbs 26 and Romans 14.

Podcast: On the Objective – The Urgent Need To Address Sin – Steven Menking – 07.05.2019

2019.07.05

Join us for another Biblical discussion of important spiritual principles in partnership with Reliance! How long will we let sin continue in our hearts and in our own ranks before we stand up and confront it? While it is true that we can overstep our bounds and turn to condemnation in ways not warranted by the Holy Spirit when we are seized with religious zeal, but that doesn’t seem to be the primary pitfall facing the Body of Christ. The real problem for you and I is cowardice. Every time we shrink bank from appropriately dealing with sin we are ourselves committing a sin of omission because we were fearful of the result. Our primary approach must be determined by obedience to the will of God. Many continue to wrest from the Word of God principles to justify their own behavior and also thus fall short. Brothers and sisters: it’s time we take sin seriously in this generation. The scriptures from this message are found in Leviticus 5 and Matthew 28, and external materials are found in Book 1, Part 9 of Saint Augustine’s City of God.

Why Do The Nations Rage? – Pastor Carter Conlon – Times Square Church – 02.05.2017

destruction-of-empire

Now is the time to surrender all to Jesus. This is a message straight from the throne of God for those who are sold out to Christ and want to make a difference in this generation. At Times Square Church people walked out of the sanctuary, but our Pastor refuses to compromise the truth about the need to turn away from sin and to follow the Lord with our entire being.

Why Do The Nations Rage? – Pastor Carter Conlon – Times Square Church – 02.05.2017

Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”

“I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”

Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest  He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

Psalm 2:1-12

Guest Post – Cut the Bait – Pastor Mike Spaulding of Soaring Eagle Radio

Some awesome spiritual insight from Pastor Mike Spaulding of  Calvary Chapel in Lima, Ohio and host of Soaring Eagle Radio.

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 1 Peter 1:13-15

The success of a fishing lure lies mainly in its ability to attract. The shiny spinners sparkle and move with the current of the water and as a result of the skillful fisherman’s hand. Once attracted the fish moves in for a closer look and ultimately makes the fatal decision to strike at what it believes to be an easy meal.  Too late does the unsuspecting fish feel the bite of the hook and the draw of the line that means the hunter has become the hunted.

My good friend Mike Reese, musician and songwriter as both a solo artist and member of the group Simon Peter, sings a song appropriately titled “Hooks” in which the following lyrics are haunting in their accuracy:

Some people say “It’s all in fun. Don’t get so serious if we get delirious, there’s no harm done.

It may take years or just a day and what was once a game is now not quite the same.

It is a habit now that you find you can’t live without. And the deceitfulness of sin has got you again.

The chorus drives the point home:

Oh it’s so subtle, has such good looks.

It’s so wrapped up in the things we want,

We can’t see the hooks.”
