Podcast: The Amateur Society – Social Media Scrutiny – 04.02.2018

SocialMedia

The Amateur Society deleted our Facebook page after almost four years in the last week, and your host deleted his personal page that had been maintained since 2006. The social media landscape is changing. Because these platforms are built on technology, they are more vulnerable to disruption than prior iterations of conglomerates. Will coming changes dethrone the current crop of technology barons? Will the overall changes to the landscape be positive or negative? As legacy platforms run their course, is it even possible to imagine a world without them?

The Amateur Society: The Divergent Worlds Of Artificial Intelligence

NeuralNetworks

Amateurs,

Our regular open call will take place tonight, Monday 12/04, at 8:00pm eastern time via Skype. To join in please send us a contact request on Skype by searching for our account name amateursociety. If you have any questions or need clarification, please drop us a line on the contact page here or email us directly at amateursociety@gmail.com. These weekly meetings can be found on Spreaker, YouTube, and on iTunes via the Podcast app.

Tonight we are moving back into the realm of technology to again cover what’s happening in the field of artificial intelligence. First, let’s try to unpack what we actually mean when we use that term. Second, let’s look at some real world happenings and forecasts in this critical area of technology and life. Last, let’s examine what our worldviews have to say about the topic. There is a great deal of nuance and complexity in this subject, so we’re going to have a non-technical, high level conversation so that all can participate.

Join us for another engaging and informative conversation tonight at 8:00pm!

God bless,

Steven

Podcast: The Amateur Society – Artificial Intelligence And Augmented Reality – 06.13.2017

IntelNetworks

On the heels of our technology discussion last week, tonight we will be asking questions about the potential and limitations on artificial intelligence. Looking at the event schedule at London Tech Week, we examine many critical trends. How can we make sense of all the interwoven, complication notions and terms that are connected to this influential area of study? What are the boundaries on the social, cultural, and economic impact of this powerful trend over the course of the coming years? Where is all this headed and what should we do now in order to engage and respond to these existential changes?
